It’s a no go…

Hi everyone,

So, after turning my place upside down many times in search of my old passport and after making many phone calls…we’ve decided that its best to postpone the trip. So if anyone has any suggestions on where to go, then you know where to reach us!

To be continued…

Update: pre-travel hysterics

We’ve hit kinda a roadblock here on the ol travel plans and we haven’t even left.

Last Wednesday, Julia discovered that her passport was missing. We look around both apartments, but nothing turned up. She applied for an emergency passport (for like $500), sent them all the documents they needed on Thursday, and they had it fedexed from Washington DC with a Saturday delivery. We figured we got extremely lucky, in the end, without a moment to spare.

Then this freakish storm overtook the land, it snowed in Berkeley, and blizzarded in Nashville. This being Fedex’s hub, all we can guess is Julia’s replacement passport is now sitting in the land of country music, frozen on a tarmac somewhere.

Which means we have to find her passport in like 3 hours max (plane is at 6:30) or no dice.

Ugh. Wish us luck.

Today is the day! Julia and I are headed to Costa Rica for almost two full weeks! Without intending to inspire jealousy in present company, we’re both very excited to fly away from this frigid weather and into the warm breezes of the equator.

Our journey begins tonight at 6, when we’ll be flying aboard American Airlines to LAX, and then off to San Jose International in Costa Rica for a relaxing red-eye flight. Provided baby density in our section of the cabin remains low, we’ll both have gotten some sleep and will arrive happy and refreshed on Sunday morning to pick up our 4×4.

Then it’s off to the coast for a yet-unplanned adventure! Nothing’s booked – so this can be kind of like a name-your-adventure-tale for all you-alls: "Julia and Bryan encounter a fork in the jungle road. On one they can glimpse a distant beach and some snakes, on the other, an active volcano and some parrots. Which should they choose? E-mail to decide.

It’ll just be the illusion of control, though, because we won’t listen and choose the beach every time, right J?

Welcome to Costa Rica!

Julia and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica. We’re both very excited, but some last minute passport difficulties (Julia can’t find hers!) might throw a wrench in the works.

If not, we’ll be leaving aboard American Airlines to San Jose, Costa Rica on Saturday the 18th. We’ll be returning on the 1st of March.

If you’d like to stay updated by e-mail, send a message to costarica@aboutbryan.com and you’ll be added to our friends’ list. Otherwise, all updates will be posted here as well.
